Attempts toward Non-Color
TEXT: to trigger a response where you cannot immediately identify its color,
interested in the interaction of color through layers instead of juxtaposition*,
sensitivity to the particular, the inability to abstract visual experience into language, and the inextricable connection between color and its material substrate i.e. the relevance of texture in perceiving color.

Attempts toward My Skin
TEXT: in search of a less essentializing and more ambiguous conversation around identity,
finding exceptions. having not identified with asian americanness, having felt more lonely because of this lack,
and desiring a piece-meal contruction of identity that acknowledges difference as well as a sense of being part of a collective.
Capitivated by the visceral connection between layers of ink on paper to what my skin looked like, especially in its softness and translucency. The process involved guessing and working from my memory of what this part of my skin looks like.
Desired to spark a visceral feeling of recognition of one’s body in the present moment, regardless of racial identity. Idealistic perhaps.
Attempts toward H2O
TEXT: This time, giving into the seductiveness of language in crystallizing understandings of my perceptions.
